Well over 100 families attended Westfield Public School’s Countdown to Kindergarten event on Tuesday, February 6th to kick-off kindergarten registration and give families an opportunity to learn about our schools and community organizations, such as the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club. Families met our school principals and staff, learned about our literacy and STEM curriculum, school transportation, school lunches and much more! All attendees received a kindergarten goody backpack and tips about getting their children ready to start school. All children who registered are now on our mailing list to be updated about events leading up to school starting in the fall. The event is held in collaboration with Westfield’s Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) grant and coordinator Paula Hebert-Pike.
If you missed this event, and have a child who’ll be 5 by September 1st, 2024, you will want to register them before the beginning of May in order to be included in a visit to their school in late May to meet staff and have your child do a short screening to help plan for their needs this fall.
To register, you can go to the registration tab at
and either scan/email your documents to
or bring them to the WPS Welcome Center at 94 North Elm Street, Suite 101. You may also contact Laura Surprise at
