Information Technology

The IT Department provides hands-on training to students interested in pursuing a career in an IT field. All students receive a broad background in IT skills during Grades 9 and 10. At the beginning of Grade 11, students declare one of two discreet IT career pathways, Information Support Services and Networking, or Programming and Web Development.

Information Support Services and Networking (ISSN): Information Support Services and Networking Students specialize in user support, cybersecurity, and networking. They build corporate networks that securely connect people’s technology to the Internet and provide users with needed network resources. ISSN Students join Cisco Academy, the world’s largest online classroom, where they may earn professional certifications. They also explore cloud architecture using the Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure certification platforms.

Programming and Web Development (PWD): Programming and Web Development Students specialize in writing programs and developing web-based applications for Windows, Linux, and Mobile Operating Systems. PWD Students become a growing community of game and Extended Reality (XR) development using the Unity Learning Platform. Through demonstration of technical skill mastery, students can earn up to 18 college credits toward advanced degrees in Computer Science.

“The Web as I envisaged it, we have not seen it yet. The future is still so much bigger than the past.”

Tim Berners-Lee

Inventor of the World Wide Web
