On March 25, over 400 people attended our Westfield Public Schools All Ages Activity Expo held at the Boys and Girls Club. Toddlers, teens, and adults learned more about how Westfield supports its youth. The 38 organizations and businesses appreciated speaking directly to our community about all they have to offer. Sheila Connally, a parent and Title I Parent Advisory Board member who helped organize this event said, “I loved seeing the kids’ enthusiasm for learning about new opportunities they can do.” Vendors catered to all ages informing them about dance, scouts, driving school, sports, and much, much more. Our Westfield staples, the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, and the Parks and Rec let parents know about the programs, camps, and daycare opportunities they offer. Families who were new to Westfield mentioned that this was a great way to learn more about the community they just moved into, and they were excited to take advantage of the many programs offered. Chris Tolpa, WPS Title I Supervisor who organizes family events throughout the year with the federal grant funding she oversees said, “This is the first event of its kind in Westfield, and the turnout has gone beyond my expectations. My Title I Parent Advisory Board and I have worked hard to organize this event to bring our community together to learn more about all that Westfield has to offer its youth. We hope to make this an annual event.”
