Recently, the sophomore and junior class of the Westfield Technical Academy’s Aviation program visited BETA Technologies of Burlington Vermont. BETA Technologies is an electric aerospace company that designs, manufactures, and tests all-electric aircraft and charging infrastructure. They are widely respected and are considered to be a leading contender for the future of electric aviation, predominantly in the eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft industry.
BETA designs and certifies electric aircraft, including the ALIA CTOL fixed-wing aircraft and the ALIA VTOL vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. BETA also develops a network of chargers for their aircraft and other electric vehicles
As FAA Airframe and Powerplant ‘up-and-comers’, the WTA Aviation students found the opportunities at BETA to be plentiful and available. BETA officials stated that, they offer training programs for pilots and maintainers of electric aircraft. This, most certainly, got the attention of many Aviation students.
