Each year, the Henry David Thoreau Foundation selects several Massachusetts high school seniors interested in environmental studies to receive up to $26,000 for tuition tothe college of their choice. The Scholarship's objective is to foster future environmental leaders. Henry David Thoreau Scholars major in many different subjects suchas oceanography, green architecture, conservation biology, and alternative energy as well as engineering and computer science majors related to the environment. The Elks National Foundation will make $4,000 scholarships available to children and grandchildren of Elks members, who exhibit the core values of the Elks National Foundation: Knowledge, charity, community, and integrity. The awards are given based on school records, college entrance examinations, general accomplishments, recommendations and financial need. The annual award is $3,000 for a maximum of four years. This scholarship is named for William R. Rooney, a longtime educator and former Executive Secretary of the Horace Smith Fund, who advocated for financial assistance to students with special needs. One scholarship per academic year is offered to a graduating high school senior who is currently on and has been on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 Accommodation Plan for a minimum of two years. To qualify for this award, the student must be a resident of Hampden County, enrolled in an eligible high school, and anticipate attending either a two or four-year accredited college. One award each year is given based on school records, college entrance examinations, general accomplishments, recommendations and financial need. The student must submit a copy of their IEP or 504 when submitting their application. The annual award is $3,000 for a maximum of four years. The Massachusetts AFL-CIO 66th Annual Scholarship Awards Program is offering over a half million dollars in scholarships to area high school seniors. All graduating seniors in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts who are seeking a college degree or job training are eligible to compete. To qualify, students must be a senior in high school, fill out the online application and take the required exam. The Fidelity Scholars Program combines a generous annual needs-based scholarship with robust wrap-around services that support students' persistence to obtain acollege degree. The program is working to identify and support approximately 2,500 talented students from Fidelity's geographical priority areas in the United States. The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship seeks to provide scholarship assistance to deserving: high school juniors and seniors: who have demonstrated integrity & determination in overcoming adversity, academic potential, the personal aspiration to make a unique contribution to society, strength of character and financial need. Although this scholarship is for High School Juniors, additional Scholarships are available for High School Seniors who will be attending specific universities listed on their website. The Chicopee Savings Bank Charitable Foundation is pleased to invite the graduating class of Westfield High School to participate in the Foundation's annual William J. Wagner Memorial Scholarship Program. One applicant from Westfield High School will be selected to receive a $3,000 scholarship award. All applicants must: be a graduating senior, have a 3.0+ GPA, be entering a degree program at an accredited college, university or technical school.Applications are available in the Counseling Office and must be returned to Ms. Wingate (in the Counseling Office).

Obtaining a college education is expensive, and the Community Foundation strives to provide some financial assistance to students living in Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire cou5ties to help them achieve their goal of graduating from college. The foundation has over 160 different scholarship funds, and each they give away over 1,000 individual scholarship awards. This equates to approximately $1.4 million in scholarships. The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship offers college scholarships of up to $40,000 for high school seniors nationwide who showcase leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. The candidate must demonstrate the attributes of leadership, integrity, drive, and citizenship within their communities, schools, and workplaces. They must display a strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent). They must be a citizen of the United States of America. Breanna Coleman was one of five people lost in a car accident late in the night of June 25, 2023. This scholarship seeks to honor the life of Brianna Coleman who was set to beginthe nursing program at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Floridain the fall of 2023. Any high school senior who will be a first generation college student pursuing a four-year degree in nursing may apply for this scholarship.
